With a dedicated heart for service, she has continued to volunteer her time, as a general dentist, to those who are underrepresented and underserved in her community. While working in SC, she participated in the annual Dental Access Days event which is geared to providing free dental treatment to uninsured adults from low income families who would otherwise have no access to dental care
Talking to your child about their dental health will help encourage them to strive for healthy and strong baby teeth, healthy and strong gums, and later, healthy and strong adult teeth!
As with the American Dental Association (ADA), the American Association of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD) & the American Association of Pediatrics (AAP), we recommend establishing a “Dental home” for your child by the age of one. Children with a dental home are more likely to receive routine oral health care and the appropriate preventive care as well.
Fluoride is a naturally occurring mineral that works to strengthen tooth enamel and prevent tooth decay. The use of a fluoride-containing toothpaste is recommended for both children and adults.
A dental emergency is a situation that requires prompt attention from a dental professional. If your child has a dental emergency, we encourage you to contact our office as soon as possible
Regular teeth cleaning and exams are essential in maintaining good oral hygiene, prevention of tooth decay & gum disease, and they give the dentist a chance to identify the problem areas that may require special attention.
Dental sealants refer to a thin protective coating that is applied over the chewing surfaces of teeth, as a barrier, to prevent them from decay. They are particularly used on the permanent back teeth that have deep grooves (or “fissures”).
If your child damages a tooth, a dental restoration may be used to restore their smile. Dental bonding and dental crowns are the two most common kinds of dental restorations. Bonding is used for minor chips and cracks while crowns are used when a good deal of the tooth’s enamel is missing, like with a tooth infection or decay.
